About the Work
First conceived as a linocut in 1969 and printed in this edition in 2001, Evolution centers on a dark core from which patterned bands and cut marks extend. The forms overlap and change direction, making the title feel like an action taking place within the image.
The contrast between inked black shapes and white lines cut from the block gives the composition its pulse. Dense pattern alternates with open paper so the image retains clear movement without relying on a literal narrative.
